What is Somatic Therapy?The Soma represents more than our physical structure; it's our inner body, also known as the subtle or energy body. Somatic, in essence, relates to the body in its entirety—both its physical form and its energetic presence. Somatic therapy is the practice of tuning into and feeling our body's current state, allowing us to identify and work through blocked energy that leads to physical symptoms like panic attacks, anxiety, digestive issues, and brain fog. This process involves using specific somatic exercises to help release these blockages, aiming for a state of health and balance.

What is Polyvagal Theory?The mind and body are connected through the Vagus nerve, which extends from the brain stem to the colon. This nerve is integral to our parasympathetic nervous system, known as the "Rest and Digest" state. In this state, everything feels calm, life is good, your body is relaxed, and all bodily functions operate as they should. Ideally, we would be in this rest and digest state most of the time, only shifting to the sympathetic nervous system state, or "fight or flight," when in danger. The issue in modern society is that we often remain in "fight or flight" mode, constantly releasing stress hormones, which can lead to numerous illnesses. By identifying where your body is on the Polyvagal scale and understanding which traumas (big or small) have contributed to this state, we can start to address them. Through talking, feeling, and processing these experiences with various techniques, we work to improve Vagal tone. This helps you respond to life's challenges with an appropriate level of stress or relaxation.

How does the nervous system affect my mental and physical health?Our body is made up of several systems all cleverly interlinked. The nervous system of our body is integral in all aspects of our physical and mental health. Modern science and healthcare would have you believe that the mind and body are not connected. However, ancient traditions and research in the field of science of the mind-body connection, inform us that a dysregulated nervous system means we stay in survival mode for prolonged periods of time. This in turn causes the release of stress hormones, causing chronic illnesses of the body and mind. When we focus on the nervous system via the polyvagal lens, we are able to regulate it and come back to a balanced, healthy life.

What is mind body therapy?Somatic therapy is mind-body therapy. By reconnecting the mind and body, to feel each sensation, and have the ability to interpret the subtle energies of the body, you will no longer supress the emotions trying to be felt. What can I expect in a 1:1 somatic therapy session?This is not a performance space. It’s not goal-oriented coaching or symptom-chasing therapy. Each weekly 60-minute session is a slow, grounded, co-created space where we follow the intelligence of your body — not an external agenda. Together, we track sensation, emotion, body memory and energetic patterns. I integrate somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, trauma-informed relational repair, and energy-based support. Our work may include: Body tracking and felt-sense awareness Titrated trauma processing and emotional integration Energetic boundary repair and re-patterning Dialogue with inner parts and protective systems Resourcing and co-regulation for nervous system safety The pace is spacious and responsive. The goal is not to be “better,” but to become more whole.

Can I work with you if I’m in therapy or taking medication?If you are currently in therapy with another practitioner, this 9-month programme may not be the right fit at this time. Working deeply at a somatic and energetic level alongside another therapeutic process can sometimes create confusion or cross-signals in your system — especially if the approaches are not aligned. For your safety and clarity, I only work with clients who are not engaged in other therapeutic relationships during our time together. If you are taking prescribed medication, that is absolutely welcome. This space honours integrative healing and works well alongside medical or psychiatric support.
